FRITHY WOOD

One of our beacon success stories, Frithy Wood was a major initiative, started in 2012.

Frithy’s impressive legacy continues to keep our team busy to this day, and it is a site which brings great opportunity and enjoyment for those using our services.

Following a successful funding bid, Green Light Trust was awarded an allocation from Heritage Lottery Fund, in order to deliver a 'Restoring the Repertoire' Project.

This, together with support from other bodies, enabled the purchase of the ancient woodland itself, and then allowed us to appoint a Project Manager to oversee an exciting range of educational and management programmes at the site.

The national importance of Frithy Wood is recognised in its statutory designation as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Our Restoring the Repertoire Project, which finished three years ago, was an innovative conservation approach, with the aim to rejuvenate the wood into a healthy and sustainable ecological state.

Benefits to date have been extremely broad and impressive. Some of our participants have acquired new skills, which will open up employment scope, while others are benefiting in respect of their health and wellbeing.

Frithy wood is situated on Donkey Lane, Lawshall, Suffolk.
