Community Green Care Was Green Light Trust's pilot Enablement programme at Rushmere Common.

Our Enablement Programmes are ‘invitation only’ courses that are aimed at individuals who have been engaged with Green Light Trust for a longer period, have already been on our other woodland support courses, and are ready to move on to the next stage of their progression journey.

These programmes aim to empower individuals with skills and opportunities to maintain their own social support networks, move into volunteering or employment, and become less dependent on support services: individuals are enabled and supported by us to become more self-reliant and purposeful.

As these groups are for our more experienced participants, we will want them to engage with training to gain and demonstrate practical competency but also to be involved with the functioning of the group in terms of risk assessment, first aid, catering, job planning and group dynamics.

It is hoped that by the end of the courses the group will be able to function with only light support from GLT staff, to be involved in decision making and maintain the mutual support normally found on any GLT course.
