Salary: £45,559 – £50,708 per year (depending on experience, pro-rata)

Location: This is a hybrid role, based from home. There’s regular remote working and frequent travel to our HQ in Bury St Edmunds and our other sites across Norfolk and Suffolk

The Role

As Head of Marketing & Fundraising you will play a pivotal role in developing and diversifying income for the Charity and establishing Green Light Trust (GLT) as the leading provider of nature-based mental health support services in the East of England. You’ll be accountable for a variety of functions including marketing & communications, fundraising, business development, and impact measurement. You’ll work collaboratively with our partners in academia, health and social care to build a strong body of evidence that demonstrates the impact of GLTs work, creates a strong case for support and promotes best practice across the sector.

You will directly manage a team of two, our Marketing Coordinator and our Fundraising Development Officer and you'll be the budget holder for your department.

The priorities in this role will be:

  • Actively contributing to strategic planning and decision making as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Developing and implementing, marketing, communications & integrated funding strategies that support GLT’s strategic plan.
  • Innovating and diversifying fundraising activities to achieve long-term, repeatable sources of income, making the case for the investment where required.
  • Overseeing the development of competitive tenders, grant bids, and business expansion, aligned to GLT’s strategic vision and values.
  • Building strong relationships with a variety of key stakeholders including commissioners, funders, supporters, corporate partners and suppliers.
  • Demonstrating the impact of GLT’s work in achieving long term positive outcomes for beneficiaries through collaboration with academic and strategic partners.
  • Building a positive public profile for the charity by actively engaging key stakeholders and influencers and growing support.
  • Overseeing the development and delivery of projects and strategic work programmes and representing the Charity externally and internally at a senior level.

Who we’re looking for:

You’ll need to be passionate about, and skilled in, marketing and business development, preferably you'll have skills in fundraising or working in the Third Sector. You’ll be able to demonstrate that you’ve successfully developed and implemented a variety of marketing, fundraising and communications strategies that have delivered tangible results and that you understand how to build a strong case for support and maximise income from a variety of fundraising techniques.

You’ll have a proven track record of developing and securing significant grants and/or multi-year contracts proving a track record of growing income from a variety of sources. You’ll be a natural collaborator and innovator who adds value and is confident influencing at a senior level and driving change. You will apply creative and critical thinking to enable you to challenge with credibility and strong project management and analysis skills. You will need to have a good understanding of fundraising and communicating to stakeholders in this space.    

We’re looking for a naturally inspiring leader, who can share their vision and knows how to get the best from their team. 

Due to the nature of our work with vulnerable people, you will be asked to complete an enhanced DBS check and this role is subject to a 6-month probation period.

Your Skills

Desirable:

  • A background in creating compelling marketing materials 
  • An understanding of Social Media and Digital Marketing and the design of impactful content
  • A history of monitoring and evaluating fundraising/marketing campaigns and their efficacy
  • Knowledge or experience of managing a website
  • Knowledge or experience of managing mass mailings and the use of Mailchimp

Essential:

  • Experience of working in a senior marketing role
  • Experience of working in, or supporting with, achieving fundraising targets, at a senior level
  • Strong networking skills, with a proven history of building effective relationships beyond your own organisation
  • A track record of overseeing multiple projects and delivering to deadlines
