Welcome to WEST STOW COUNTRY PARK

Found in the west of Suffolk, near to Bury St Edmunds, this 125 acres of unspoilt heath and woodland surround West Stow’s Anglo Saxon Village recreation. West Stow Country Park is a calming escape from overwhelming, everyday living.

We welcome people to West Stow Country Park to benefit from its rich biodiversity, thriving wildlife and tranquil setting.

Rich history

West Stow Country Park is the site of an early Anglo-Saxon village, occupied from AD 420-650, over 400 years before the Norman Conquest.

Vast countryside

West stow sits on 125 acres of stunning Suffolk countryside with numerous trails and woodland walks.

Wildlife enthusiasts

There are two bird hides and a bird feeding area as well as a lake and the River Lark with all the life that this attracts.

If coming by car

If you are arriving by car, West Stow Country Park is 15 minutes from Bury St Edmunds town centre, 10  minutes from the A11 and 20 minutes to the A14.

If coming by bus

The 16 or 355 from Bury St Edmunds town Centre will go to West Stow, and then it’s a 2o minute walk to the Country Park.

If coming by train

The nearest train station is Bury St Edmunds with connections from Ipswich, Cambridge and Norwich.

TRINITY PARK

Welcome to TRINITY PARK

Located on the edge of the Suffolk Showground in the south East of Ipswich is the Trinity Park camp. A small, but established woodland with oak trees and bluebells in abundance.

Here, you will find a calming escape from overwhelming, everyday living. We welcome people to Trinity Park to benefit from its rich biodiversity, thriving wildlife and tranquil setting.

Accessible location

Trinity Pak is a 13 minute drive from Ipswich town centre, it has plenty of parking and is well signposted.

A modest woodland camp

Unlike some of our camps, Trinity Park is smaller and offers a quaint woodland experience.

Best of both worlds

Trinity Park offers both the natural environment of a woodland space and the easy access from a well connected town.

Trinity Park

If coming by car

Trinity Park is on the outskirts of Ipswich, just off the A14. From the A14 take the exit sign-posted Lowestoft A12 and Ipswich East. At the roundabout take the A1156 towards Ipswich. Travel for a little over a mile, passing a Honda Garage on your right, until you come to a roundabout. Take the third exit at the roundabout to enter Trinity Park.

If coming by bus

There are bus connections from Ipswich and Felixstowe via routes: 75, 76, 77. Suffolk on Board can provide bus times, your nearest bus route and connections.

If coming by train

Trinity Park is 5 miles from Ipswich railway station. There are regular services to London, Norwich and Cambridge.

Our camps > The Foundry

THE FOUNDRY

Our first ever site and an award winning carbon neutral building.

Situated in Lawshall, Bury St Edmunds, The Foundry is our first ever site and is an award winning carbon neutral building. We have access to a beautiful meadow, Golden Wood and several indoor spaces which we use for Step By Step and our educational training. 

On site we also have a dedicated camp for use with our participants, and a horticultural area.

Peaceful location

The Foundry sits in the quiet village of Lawshall, surrounded by fields and woodland- away from the busy hustle and bustle of Bury St Edmunds.

Ideal facilities

We have the main foundry building  which boasts a large open space, as well as a separate classroom with a comforting log burner.

Our vibrant hub

Despite being a central point for us, The Foundry remains to be a calming environment for both staff and participants.

If coming by car

The Foundry is less than a 20 minute drive from Bury St Edmunds town centre.

If coming by bus

Unfortunately, there are no buses that run to The Foundry.

If coming by train

The closest train station is in Bury St Edmunds, and then it’s an 20 minute drive to the Foundry.

If coming by car

RSPB Minsmere is only a 20 minute drive from Saxmundham and 25 minutes from popular coastal towns, Aldeburgh and Southwold.

If coming by bus

Leiston is the nearest scheduled bus.

Accessible transport from Leiston bus stop to the reserve can be booked a week in advance through Coastal Accessible Transport Services – C.A.T.S.

If coming by train

Darsham is the nearest train station to Minsmere.

Trains run regularly between Ipswich and Lowestoft.

Welcome to FRITHY WOOD

Nestled in the west of Suffolk, near to Bury St Edmunds we own 22 acres of ancient protected woodland. Which provides a  calming escape from overwhelming, everyday living. We welcome people to Frithy Wood to benefit from its rich biodiversity, thriving wildlife and tranquil setting.

Reconnect with yourself and others at your own pace by wandering through its trails, taking part in bushcraft skills under its sheltering leaves and cooking a meal with others around a crackling fire.

Suffolk woodland at its finest

Frithy Wood is a stunning area of land in the middle of the Suffolk countryside that hosts a range of flora and fauna.

Frithy wood is less than a 5 minute drive from The Foundry and sits on the lovable Donkey Lane.

Nestled in the heart of Suffolk, this ancient woodland is a calming escape from overwhelming, everyday living. We welcome people to Castan Wood to benefit from its rich biodiversity, thriving wildlife and tranquil setting.

Reconnect with yourself and others at your own pace by wandering through its trails, taking part in bushcraft skills under its sheltering leaves and cooking a meal with others around a crackling fire.

Castan Wood is a sanctuary for those seeking to recover, connect and heal without the noise and complications of everyday life. 

Breathtaking nature

Castan Wood is home to acres of chestnut trees and bluebells in Spring time. Nature envelops you in this calming space.

Dedicated apiary

We have resident bees in Castan Woods that help the people we support to understand the rich biodiversity that inhabits the woodlands.

Convenient location

Castan’s surprising location (just behind a busy bus stop) makes nature one step closer to the people we support.

If coming by car

Getting to Castan woods is easy as it’s next to the Park & Ride at Martlesham, where there is a free car park for a hundred cars and plenty of spaces for blue badge.

If coming by bus

The Park and Ride Martlesham bus service runs through Ipswich hospital, the town centre and London Road Park and Ride.

If coming by train

It is a 20 minute car journey from Ipswich station or you can get the Park and Ride bus from Crown Court near the train station.
