Welcome to RSPB STRUMPSHAW FEN

Situated beside the River Yare, near Norwich, you will find a fantastic range of Broadland habitats and wildlife to discover amongst the woodland.  

RSPB Strumpshaw Fen is a calming escape from overwhelming, everyday living. We welcome people to RSPB Strumpshaw Fen to benefit from its rich biodiversity, thriving wildlife and tranquil setting.

Broadland habitats

Strumpshaw Fen is situated on the famous River Yare with an amazing range of wildlife and the high chance of spotting Kingfishers.

Close to Norwich

Strumpshaw Fen is well connected and only 6 miles East of busy Norwich.

Variety of walks

Our Strumpshaw camp is based in the woods but we have access to stunning boardwalks through the reedbeds and plenty more.

If coming by car

The reserve is best approached from the village of Brundall which lies east of Norwich just off the A47.

From the A47 roundabout, drive through Brundall and continue on the same road out towards Strumpshaw. Soon after you pass the Strumpshaw sign, turn right into Stone Road, and immediately right again into Low Road. The reserve car park is 500m down Low Road on the right.

If coming by bus

First Bus, Green Line 16

An hourly bus service from Norwich stops 0.7 miles (1.1 km) from the reserve on the Brundall to Strumpshaw Road at the junction of Long Lane and Stone Road (weekdays and Saturdays only).

If coming by train

A number of trains on the Norwich to Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft (Wherry Lines) services call at Buckenham station by request at the weekend. Four trains each way call on Sundays and Public Holidays, one on Saturdays. Strumpshaw Fen is about a mile away, via quiet lanes.

The other nearby station is Brundall, 1.4 miles (2.3km) from the reserve.

Most of our work is outdoors and in wonderful woodland settings, this does mean that our camps are not always fully accessible all year round, but we can look to make reasonable adjustments. Talk to us about what you need and we will do our very best to accommodate you.

Welcome to OXBURGH ESTATE

Sitting on the edge of the Norfolk Brecks, this historic site boasts parkland, woodland, wildflower meadows and rare chalk rivers.

Oxburgh Estate  is a calming escape from overwhelming, everyday living. We welcome people to Oxburgh Estate to benefit from its rich biodiversity, thriving wildlife and tranquil setting. 

Unique architecture

Oxburgh Hall is an impressive brick manor house that sits in the centre of a tranquil moat. Built in 1482, this manor is part of an estate full of history.

Our camp is lucky enough to be part of 125 acres of land, surrounded by country landscapes.

North Norfolk location

The oxburgh Estate camp is situated close to Kings Lynn in Norfolk, ideal for those living in the surrounding areas.

If coming by car

Oxburgh Estate is only 10 minutes away from Swaffham and a half an hour drive from Kings Lynn, with free parking.

If coming by bus

You can get to Oxburgh Estate on the Swaffham flexibus+ which travels to/from Swaffham and villages in West Norfolk and Breckland. This service is available 7am – 7pm, Monday to Saturday and can be booked to pick you up at a time to suit you. Find out more at Swaffham flexibus+ on the Norfolk County Council website.

If coming by train

Downham Market, 10 miles, then taxi; no direct public transport from Downham Market.

Welcome to blickling estate

Located in the North of Norfolk with over 1200 veteran trees, native bluebells, as well as wild flower and floodplain meadows. The estate is a calming escape from overwhelming, everyday living.

We welcome people to Blickling Estate to benefit from its rich biodiversity, thriving wildlife and tranquil setting.

Iconic history

The Blickling Hall estate has been a key feature throughout history. It was the birthplace of Anne Boleyn and housed RAF crew in the Second World War.

The grand lake and rolling woodland will take your mind off the stresses of daily life and help connect you with nature.

Vast woodland

Blickling Estate sits on 4,600 acres of woodland, parkland and farmland. All expertly conserved by the ranger team.

If coming by car

On Blickling Road (old B1354, reclassified to C593), signposted off A140 Norwich/Cromer.

If coming by bus

Sanders Coaches Services 43, 44, 44A, X44 available from Norwich to Aylsham, 2 miles from Blickling Estate. From April, a Sunbeam 1A bus service will run on Mondays and Fridays* direct from Aylsham Market Place to Blickling Estate. The service will depart Aylsham at 10.10am and 11.40am. The return journey will depart the hall at 11.50am, 1.28pm and 4.08pm. *excluding bank holidays

If coming by train

Bure Valley Railway available from Hoveton & Wroxham station to Aylsham, 2 miles from Blickling Estate.
