Castan Wood

The serene and ancient Castan Wood is one of our beautiful woodland camps.

Welcome to Castan Wood

Nestled in the heart of Suffolk, this ancient woodland is a calming escape from overwhelming, everyday living. We welcome people to Castan Wood to benefit from its rich biodiversity, thriving wildlife and tranquil setting.

Reconnect with yourself and others at your own pace by wandering through its trails, taking part in bushcraft skills under its sheltering leaves and cooking a meal with others around a crackling fire.

Castan Wood is a sanctuary for those seeking to recover, connect and heal without the noise and complications of everyday life.

Breathtaking nature

Castan Wood is home to acres of chestnut trees and bluebells in Spring time. Nature envelops you in this calming space.

Dedicated apiary

We have resident bees in Castan Woods that help the people we support to understand the rich biodiversity that inhabits the woodlands.

Convenient location

Castan’s surprising location (just behind a busy bus stop) makes nature one step closer to the people we support.

If coming by car

Getting to Castan woods is easy as it’s next to the Park & Ride at Martlesham, where there is a free car park for a hundred cars and plenty of spaces for blue badge.

If coming by bus

The Park and Ride Martlesham bus service runs through Ipswich hospital, the town centre and London Road Park and Ride.

If coming by train

It is a 20 minute car journey from Ipswich station or you can get the Park and Ride bus from Crown Court near the train station.

Camp accessibility

Most of our work is outdoors and in wonderful woodland settings, this does mean that our camps are not always fully accessible all year round, but we can look to make reasonable adjustments. Talk to us about what you need and we will do our very best to accommodate you.

WHO WE SUPPORT

We support children, young people and adults so they can connect with nature and each other.
