Ric Edelmann, Co-founder of Green Light Trust

Ric Edelmann

For all his life, Ric has had three passions: nature, theatre and people.

He pursued the first one by studying Biological Sciences at King's College-London, specialising in ecology and obtaining a Bsc Honours Degree. He then decided to follow his second passion and trained as an actor at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. His acting career only lasted 3 years, finally washed away in a storm at the Cleethorpes pier. He however didn't give up theatre and turned to playwriting, enjoying moderate success with several London fringe productions and radio dramas - the last of which, The Race of the Dugout Canoes, was broadcast in five countries. During this period, he also fulfilled his third passion by working with young single homeless people in central London.

After travelling to Papua New Guinea with Nigel Hughes in 1988 in search of the primary rainforest, they decided to co-found Green Light Trust, and Ric's three passions were finally brought together.

Ric has now stepped down as planned in December 2010 from Green Light and returned to his first passion - playwriting.
