Creating Greener Lives

26/01/2011

Creating Greener Lives is an initiative which seeks to enable young people in the East of England to discover, protect and enhance their natural heritage, connect with their communities and unlock their potential for personal, social and career development.

Between 2011 and 2016 Green Light Trust will deliver the following outcomes for young people participating in the Creating Greener Lives programme:

Increased skills, knowledge and confidence to find long term employment

Increased personal responsibility and sense of achievement through making a positive contribution

Improved mental and physical health, well being and resilience through positively engaging with others and the natural environment

Young people will be inspired to contribute to the improvement of their natural environment and safeguard it for future generations.

Through the initiative the Trust will:

  • Aim to inspire 3000 people to connect with their natural heritage

  • Deliver powerful outdoor learning experiences to approximately 100s of  children through Forest School programmes in the woods

  • Provide practical, experiential personal, social and career development opportunities on 3 week, skills-based programmes to broaden the horizons of up to 1000 young people.

  • Provide a boost to the local economy by providing around 5 new jobs and facilitating the economic inclusion of young people who are not in employment, education or training.
