What are community wild spaces?
Community wild spaces are areas of natural beauty which are owned and maintained by local people. With our support, communities create their own woodlands and other wild spaces by acquiring land, planting trees and shrubs, and building habitats for wildlife.
Once the project is up and running we step back and the community manages the land on their own, becoming self-sufficient and preserving their Community-owned WildSpace for future generations.
Who can be involved?
Anyone in the community can be involved in establishing and maintaining a Community-owned WildSpace. We also enlist the help of local businesses, and schools through our education programmes.
All WildSpaces have full public access, and make great recreational and learning environments.

How do WildSpace projects work?
If you'd like to start a Community-owned WildSpace project, please get in touch. You can also take a look at our other WildSpaces around the UK to see how they've developed.
We'll help kick start your project with an initial meeting and full community presentation - click here to find out what support we can offer.
Once your project is fully established and self-sufficient, you can choose to carry on receiving our advice and support for a small annual subscription, with additional support from our toolkit, handbook and courses about community wild spaces.
