FROM SEED TO TREE
An annual cycle of activities for schools involved in Community-owned WildSpace

What is the From Seed to Tree programme?
It is an opportunity for schools to contribute to the planting and management of new woodland or other wild spaces in communities that are working with Green Light. It can begin with pupils of any age. It offers a curriculum-linked programme of activities that take place both inside and outside the school building. For older students it offers an extra-curricular focus for groups such as environmental clubs or school councils. It is an annual programme of activities that can repeat itself every year.

How can it benefit your school?

By supporting national curriculum work in Citizenship, Literacy, PSHE, Science & Geography across all key stages.

By supporting the 'Every Child Matters' approach.

By creating strong links between the school & the community through an ideal 'extended schools' activity.

By educating for global citizenship through establishing a Global Kinship link with a school overseas.

Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5

How does it work?

You choose the number and nature of steps appropriate to your school. This process takes place with an appointed School Link person from your WildSpace project. A Green Light leader will work as mentor to the Teachers and the School Link during the first year or two. For this initial period, Green Light's support is generally offered free of charge. The 5 Step Handbook will then provide all the material you need to run the programme on your own.
